Smart Shredding System

If the robust and sophisticated construction of the Shredding equipment can be considered muscle, then the SSS must be considered the brain. The use of a computer with a program written based on many years of experience allows the TSC SXS Shredding system to be the most efficient possible up to this time. This means that from the first day of operation, the shredder is operated with a lifetime of experience. The computer makes countless decisions every second, each of which is based on what will provide the most efficient operation. The best operator in the world is not able to mentally process and evaluate all of the data that is available to the SSS within fractions of a second.

There are two parts to the SSS: first the plant's constant automated operation, and second the provision of management data, allowing the operator to make constant improvement and to understand otherwise unobservable aspects of the operation.

Plant Operation

  • Controls the rate of feed from the SDFR
  • Based on the amount of HP available in the main motor
  • Based on the thermal capacity of the main motor
  • Raises and lowers the SDFR as required to process bulky scrap
  • Controls the speed of the infeed conveyor
Management Analysis
  • Provides for the through put data based on belt scale tons per hour both ferrous and waste and non ferrous recovery (when connected to a Metal Recovery Plant (MRP)
  • Provides this data per hour, per day, per month and per year and for the life of machine
  • Provides for an analysis of down time, the causes for the down time and the percentages of each
  • Down time is defined as any time that the main motor amperage is less than 120 % of no load amps
  • Provides for a record of casting life by part. When a casting is replaced, the tons for that piece are returned to zero. This allows the operator to be able to track the average life of each part and to plan and project replacement schedules
SSS provides for trend analysis for...
  • Main motor current
  • Temperature of motor bearings and windings
  • SDFR speed
  • Incidence of raising and lowering the SDFR
  • Temperature for main rotor bearings
  • Temperature of each HPU
  • Any other item that Management want to analyze
